Mary Aman, M.A., E - RYT 500
Mary believes in the transformational nature of yoga and teaches from the platform that yoga is meant to be accessible to everybody-and to every body. She began her yoga practice in 1993, and shortly after became drawn to the clarity and accessibility of the lineage teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar. Mary has completed both Advanced and Essential Teacher Trainings under the direction of Francois Raoult, internationally renowned yoga teacher and direct student of B.K.S. As a lifelong learner, Mary seeks opportunities to keep her teaching vibrant and has studied with Arthur Kilmurray, Elise Browning Miller (scoliosis), Judith Hanson Lasater (anatomy and restorative yoga), Timothy McCall (yoga therapy), and Brooke Myers.
Mary is grateful for her recent opportunity to study with Geeta and Prashant Iyengar at the Ramamani Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune, India. More than anything, she is thankful for the presence and dedication of her students who inspire her daily.
Yoga Classes at Brighton Pathways to Health
The goal of yoga is to bring peace and focus to the mind. This sense of calm is the direct result of asana (yoga poses) and pranayama (intentional breath work). Classes aim to combine these two in order to maximize centering and relaxation.
Mondays, 5:45 - 7:00 p.m.
For the continuing practitioner with a two year minimum of yoga. Having harnessed stability in the standing poses, level two continues the exploration by carefully incorporating seated forward bends, backbends and inversions into class. Come and set a tone of presence and connectedness for your week.
Saturdays, 9:00 - 10:15 a.m.
For beginners or those desiring a mild, evenly paced class. The foundations of a balanced practice are taught. Enjoy a revitalizing class in a supportive environment.
